Notebook story: Captured by Voyager 1 from over 6 billion kilometers away, Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of Earth. Famed astronomer Carl Sagan, who was part of the Voyager imaging team, described it with an iconic quote. He remarks upon the inconsequential nature of every big or small occurrence in this one little planet, in this one little galaxy within the vast universe. The quote itself has comforted, and caused a perspective shift for us and countless others. It helps us zoom out when we get too engrossed in the tiny details and lose sight of the bigger picture.
